about

MonoPolyZation was recorded live on the 19th February 2023, after several months of setting up a Eurorack patch, and eventually acquiring a MonoPoly (MP4 as known in the US).

After Xmas I had a bad case of GAS, with a milestone birthday fast approaching. No it wasn’t all the sprouts and other vegetables, but the common audio synthesist addiction of Gear Accumulation Syndrome. In the current economic climate, I really didn’t want to break the bank balance. Fortunately I discovered a second hand unit selling close by.

The first two tracks were original experiments with the MonoPoly.

MPZ 01 for me proves the MonoPoly to be an audio beast. In fact so much was this the case that I felt compelled, to call in the EQ and mixing talents of my good friend the Space Dog.

MPZ 02 was that early test of minimal sequencing, combining the Eurorack, and other keyboards.

There are Bonus tracks that are my preferred segments of the MonoPolyZation live piece, with further post processing to my taste. To clarify the purchased album has a total of 8 tracks.

As is usually the case I recommend decent headphones or speakers for appreciating the tonal nuances and the louder bass components.

Thanks to Andy Bloyce (TSSDP, TAFS, Kubuschnitt, and others) for his friendship, and his audio processing expertise and technical advice on multiband compression for this release.

Thanks to the guitarist Adam of Tonbridge, who sold to me the MonoPoly.

American Astro Monkey Project London, UK

American Astro Monkey Project presents the electronic compositions of Steve Godwin. Based in London he is still inspired by the original 1970s electronica artists Jean-Michel Jarre, Klaus Schulze, Tangerine Dream & UK's John Foxx & Gary Numan. Analogue synthesis still remains a wondrous world of sound exploration. Steve invites you here to come exploring with him.
