This started with a new purchase of the Novation Circuit Tracks. My aim was to have a portable groove box, to enable me to compose some ideas whilst away on holiday. And also to expand on those ideas once back with some physical hardware to control.

This album's concept developed after I realised that there were some huge Coronal Mass Ejections (CME) happening throughout this summer 2022. A summer where the northern hemisphere, the UK, US and Europe, has been experiencing record temperatures, drought, forest and brush fires. Lake Mead in the US is an extraordinary event of record low water levels. And yet despite these events, in the UK there is very little science news presented of the Sun’s solar cycle, approximately 11 years, and the huge CME and solar flares events that have been happening. The current Solar Cycle 25 (the 25th since 1755) is predicted to reach its maximum in 2025!

And now for some ancient history. Ra is the Egyptian word for “sun”. As a solar deity, Ra embodied the power of the sun, but also thought to be the sun itself, envisioned as the great god riding in his barge across the heavens throughout the day and descending into the underworld at sunset.

If you’re looking for classic keyboard sounds, you could be pleasantly surprised.
